Steam Bath भाप स्नान

 This therapy is given to sweat gland and release unwanted materials out by sweat.

Two types:

 1) Partial Steam bath  

2) Whole body steam bath


Tools:

1)Kettle 2) Rubber tube, 

3) Hot plate or stove, 4) big and small towel

5) Hip bath vessel  6) mug 7) cold water 8)glass.

9) Steam Box

Principle: Skin helps in maintaining uniform temperature of our body. When the body continuously bathes in steam temperature of our body starts increasing. To keep it normal, sweat starts coming out from the skin-pores. Thus, due to the process of sweating, unwanted materials comes out through sweat. 

Method:

Boil water in kettle. Fix rubber tube- one end in  kettle and the other in steam bath box. When it gets heat, patient should be given water according to weather and make to sit on cabinet. Now close cabinet and wet the head of patient by cold water and keep the small cotten cloth. Keep the big towel should be covered around the neck in a way steam won't go out. Patient should massage his body by self inside cabinet so that skin will be more clean to release the dirts. According to necessity little amount of cold water should be kept on head to keep head cool. When the duration is over, take the patient out of cabinet and give hip bath 3-5 minutes. And cold shower beginning from the head. 

Time: Summer about 10-15 minutes, Winter 15-20 minutes.

Action Reaction  : By steam, blood capillaries expand and it moves towards to surface from internal organs carring the impurities to the surface.  Activates sweat glands and removes diseases. In this way unwanted materials goes out through the sweat.

After that doing shower by cold water capilary contracts and blood circulation becomes fast in  internal organs and problems of blood vessel will release. During steam bath unwanted substance goes out from excretory ograns.

Best for fatness, arthiritis =गठिया), tonsil, appendix swealing ie appenditics, sinusitis, low blood pressure, bronchitis, allergy, skin diseases

Avoid Steam bath in following case:

High BP, but in controlled hbp cold wet cotton bandage can be kept on chest and do steam bath. surgery (for three month), big wounds on skin by burn or cut, internal bleeding, very weakness or old patient, loose motion, dizzy, bleeding- ulcer, parkinson, and during fasting.

Note: If enima is necessary first enima and steam bath, keep head cool, give water if thirsty, if patient flusters or shakes release from steam bath. 

Some conditions are such can be given steam bath and not. So you have to decide. 

1) Be inside the pot with head out for about 15-20 minutes with Wet cloths on head

2) Hip bath 3-5 minutes 

3) After that cold bath
